ABOUT CHRIS IRWIN, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
“You would expect that Chris Irwin, son of The Gun Store’s owner, Bob Irwin, would have spent a lifetime in the family business, but that isn’t necessarily the case. Chris was born in Hollywood, California in 1966, but grew up in Las Vegas where he graduated from Western High School in 1984. Chris then graduated from UNLV where received his B.S. in Kinesiology in 1992. The Dean’s List graduate has held quite a few community-driven jobs since then, teaching at Pahrump, NV’s Rosemary Clark Middle School in 1996 and coaching Southern Nevada Youth Football League for four years. He has worked as the housekeeping manager at several hotels, including Fitzgerald’s Hotel, The Stratosphere, and Hard Rock Hotel before coming to The Gun Store part-time in 2004. Chris would join TGS full-time in 2005 where he is the current COO.
Chris’s affable personality is a bit misleading – he can be a force to be reckoned with, as well. He has trained in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and currently trains in the Filipino martial arts of Kali, Aikido, and Escrima. He is also a firearms instructor for Clark County Category II officers (bailiffs, P&P officers, Peace Officers, et al.), a P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards Training) Instructor, and a Nevada Concealed Firearms Instructor. Chris is also an NRA Law Enforcement Civilian Firearms and Home Firearm Safety Instructor. On top of all this Chris also teaches defensive tactics and is an armorer for both Glock and Sig Sauer. In a nutshell, Chris is the guy to ask any question dealing with gun safety or personal safety, and he may even be a spy, but he’s not letting on if he is.
Chris and his wonderful/beautiful wife, Alicia, married in 2009 and have seven kids together. You can find both Chris and Alicia most everyday running around The Gun Store or teaching people to beat the snot out of bullies and bandits.”
